Trawden youngsters have been taking part in the school Christmas concert that ended up being performed at Easter!
Children of the Trawden County Primary School had prepared a concert which was originally due to take place just before Christmas, but the dreadful weather made it impossible for rehearsals to take place properly. As a result it was finally performed last week as an end-of-term concert.
“Of course we had to drop all the Christmas carols from the programme,” joked deputy head-master Mr James Barrowclough. “The children are very keen, and play to quite a high standard for their age," he said. The best part of 100 infant and junior school children took part, performing mainly light-hearted humorous items in keeping with the holiday mood of the children on the last day of term. The schools recorder group also took part in the concert, which was performed in the school’s main hall, yesterday week, Thursday. Unfortunately, the schoolchildren were playing for the benefit of their friends and teachers and the public was not invited to attend.
