Craven Childrens Party

IT'S been party time for the children of West Craven over the weekend with firms, pubs and churches, arranging their own special treats for children.
Pictured right are some of those who attended the party for children of Lontex Ltd employees, of Barnoldswick on Saturday. The event was, for the first time, held in the town's St John Ambulance headquarters and was a big success. Eighty children were present and enjoyed a film show, games, dancing and a tea. They all received presents from Father Christmas.
Pictured are some of the children who were present at the parish party of St Marys Church, Kelbrook, on Friday evening. Over 100 people attended the party held in the church hall, and entertainment came from the various organisations of the church, including the churchwardens, Ladies Guild and there was even a solo spot" from the priest-in-charge, the Rev. A. Stabler. The Sunday School presented a Nativity Play, there were items from the junior music club and the choir sang carols. A buffet supper was served.
A professional act from Manchester entertained the children at the party at Earby Band Club on Sunday afternoon, one of the largest such events in the area. Around 160 children were present with members of the committee supervising the games. Father Christmas handed out the presents and a tea was available. The picture second from the bottom shows some of those who attended the party.
Games, dancing and a buffet tea were the attractions for the children who attended the annual party at Barnoldswicks Fosters Arms on Saturday afternoon, some of whom can be seen on the picture at the bottom of the page. The money for the event was provided by a special fund set up at the beginning of the year.
