Most of the 90 children who went on the pantomime trip are pictured before the start of the outing.
The trip to the Davenport Theatre, Stockport was organised by Mr. Miles Higgin, licensee of the Coal Clough Hotel, Burnley who gave the trip for customers' children. The hotel's sports and social club paid for refreshments at the interval and a packed lunch on the coach. Twelve adults went along to supervise the children. Also in the show were Alan Randall as Billy Goose and Maurine London as Jill.
12 of the children were invited behind the scenes to meet Hilda Baker, star of Mother Goose and of course, the goose herself. Hilda introduced each of the children to the goose. In the pantomime Hilda was away from her more familiar TV surroundings at Pledge's pickle factory. She was back with her old partner, Cynthia (She knows, you know).
