Panto as popular as ever

The children, pictured here, are aged between five and 14, and all come from Burnley, Nelson and Colne.
Traditional panto will never die, judging by the response of 60 children who went on the annual Gas Board outing on Saturday. They could hardly contain their excitement at the antics of comedian Terry Scott, who was playing the Old Dame. They joined in all the songs and booed the villain. Also starring in "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," at Bradford's Alhambra Theatre, was wrestler Jackie Pallo. The event was organised by Mr Peter Greenhalgh, secretary of the Gas Board's Sports and Social Club in Burnley, who was assisted by six helpers on the trip.
